I had the great pleasure of photographing Rusty Arena of Arena Design this year as he celebrates 25 years in textile design.  A true artist and a wonderful soul.  Always love working with him and his team.  Not forgetting his four-legged companions Coyote and Rufus who keep me company!

Rusty has been featured this year in PaperCity, Houston Magazine and Texas Interiors.  To learn more about Rusty and see more images click on the links below –

A fun and very different engagement session for Uju and Nnamdi in Galveston.  Fighting the hot summer sun, we waited till early evening to start shooting.  Discovered some beautiful locations thanks to the lovely and talented Kara Mullins from Artsea Productions.  Discovered the newly developed Beachtown which just begs for a romantic escape.  Congrats to the gorgeous and super fun couple!

As Pakistan goes head to head with Sri Lanka in today’s T20 semi-final, I look back at some images I took for The National Newspaper of U.A.E.  I teamed up with Pakistani Journalist Abid Shah for this piece on “Diversity before wicket“.  This was not long after the National team had visited Lahore in 2009.  What I remember most about shooting for this piece was the utter joy and sense of being Cricket brought to everyone.  It was as though it was the blood which seeped through the veins of our Nation.  I really miss watching cricket.  I’ll be tuned to my Ipad.  God bless our Nation.

When you combine stunning interior design, great music, a talented mixologist and a scrumptious gourmet snack menu, you have a sweet cocktail for success.  Most of you who know me, know that I seldom step into a bar.  But this was so so different.  The Eighteenth Bar located at 2511 Bissonnet, is just an experience for the senses.  I was working, sure, but I had such a great time.  Amir Ansari one of the owners’ was supremely hospitable, chatted to Omar for the whole duration of the shoot.  The place had hints of the Hotel Zaza‘s Conspiracy Room and a Restoration Hardware winter catalog.  Needless to say I loved it.  I wish Amir and Erick every success. For more see this month’s Houston Magazine.

The serenade. It is common for the man to serenade the woman before he proposes marriage to her.  He either performs the serenade himself or enlists the help of his musically-inclined friends.  Often he will ask her father for his daughter’s hand in marriage before proposing to her.

Paolo & Paola, our friends from Roma, took us to their friend’s Serenade.  It was in a small town, about an hour from Rome.  While the Groom serenades his Wife-to-be, with classic Italian tunes, a friend takes up a single red rose to her.  When she throws the rose off the balcony to her love below, she has accepted his proposal.  Ahhh Love…

Nothing can steal happiness, peace away from you: if anyone does make you angry, you are the loser; if someone can allow you to lose peace, you are the loser

If you haven’t heard of them, well its time you did. Powercut circus is one of the most original bands I have come across. I just wish they would come out with an album… Their lyrics are quirky yet profound. Visit them at – http://www.myspace.com/powercutcircus listen to their music! If you can get a hold of this months Serendib Mag, there is an feature about them “Circus at the Folly”. Thanks to Helga Folly’s again for the generous hospitality. Thanks guys for letting me SHOOT you! & Feroze and Sonali for the attire!
